The common misconception about foraged food is that it is survival grub. But an afternoon in the kitchen with Matt and Claire soon dispels this myth.

Thanks so much for a truly wonderful and inspiring weekend I was expecting something pretty good but it exceeded all expectations without a doubt

The foraging, cooking and feasting day laid on by Fat Hen was one of the best team building days we have done in over ten years. The Cornwall College Project Services department is a high performing and tightly knit group of people who take team building very seriously. We try to have 3 days a year out of the office to do team building, in a setting unassociated with work but which still requires the team to function together, often in circumstances which positively challenge the normal team structure and relationships. Fat Hen provided exactly the right setting and activities to do this. It was a very interesting day, great fun, and we got to eat the fruits of our labours, which were delicious.

Thinking back to that winter weekend Iam struck by how verdant and glowing everything seemed. The atmosphere in the house and out on the walks seemed heightened somehow; maybe looking closely at plants does this, making one more aware. But of course it was also your attention and care in making sure we were involved, and the relaxed ambience of the Goat Barn and garden, the mutual enthusiasm of the other kindred foragers, and of course the great skill and generosity of the chefs who prepared such amazing food for us to feast on. I haven't been on a food and cooking weekend before, but this must rate highly amongst any experience. Finally I am still amazed that we were able to find and eat such zesty, zinging salad picked from our hedgerows, in January!
